Ms Mugota joined the University of Zimbabwe Faculty of Law in August 2016. She has lectured many undergraduate courses and has been a tutor on the master’s program. Her teaching areas include the Law of Evidence, Delict & Tort Law, The Law of Succession, Commercial Law, Property Law and International Economic Law.

She has solid knowledge of dispute resolution and court procedures having worked as a Magistrate. Ms Mugota has worked as a legal consultant and is an admitted member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe and has the right to practice law in all Zimbabwean courts. She was an examiner for the Council for Legal Education which is the Board responsible for qualifying foreign educated lawyers for registration as lawyers in Zimbabwe. Ms Mugota has lectured at the Zimbabwe Republic Police Staff College in Evidence and Constitutional Law diploma courses.

Ms Mugota served as the University Legal Proctor from 2018 to 2020 and presided over all University Disciplinary Hearings and Ordinance interpretations from 2018 to 2020. She is also involved with the Faculty of Law Mooting Program and was the University of Zimbabwe Faculty Representative at the 28th Africa Centre of Human Rights Moot Competitions held in Mauritius in 2017.
